Brett grew up in Austin, Texas. By the age of 12 he was a world ranked golfer winning the UCT International Jr golf tournament. By the age of 15 he was apprenticing as a carpenter and a home inspector under his grandfather.

Brett enlisted in the US Air Force at 21 years old, he was put in charge of his 60 man basic training  squad on his first day of basic and was accepted into the Pararescue Special Operations program. He would tear his Achilles tendon in the training pipeline, never getting the chance to complete the training or deploying. After his medical discharge, Brett healed up in carpentry school and EMT school simultaneously while working as a carpenter back in Austin.

Brett then went to Tactical Medic SWAT school where he was trained in unconventional emergency medicine, small team tactics, weapons training, land navigation, room clearing, emergency K9 care, clan labs and more.

Brett then moved from Austin, Texas to Bend, Oregon where he worked as an adventure guide for an adventure outfitter as a white water rafting / rock climbing guide / counselor. He would take troubled youth into the back country of Central Oregon on multi day wilderness therapy trips.

After, Brett moved back to Austin where he began flipping houses, working as a home inspector and a general contractor. In 2012 Brett founded Property Doctors Home Inspections. Brett is a licensed Professional Inspector (TREC #20110), Licensed OSSF Septic System Installer (TCEQ), Residential Energy Auditor, Rain Water Harvesting System Installer and Rain Water System Inspector (ARCSA).

In 2014 Brett founded the non profit Off The Grid International.

From 2013-2015 Brett hosted the TV Show New Home Source where he would travel the country educating viewers on new building methodes and materials, energy effeciency and the future of home building.

Brett can previously be seen on Discovery Channel’s hit show Treasure Quest (season 2) where he is the security and survival specialist for an elite team of treasure hunters on the trail of the Treasure of the Trinity said to be worth as much as $400,000,000. He is also the carpenter for TLC’s hit show Trading Spaces.
