The Pantone Color Institute recently announced 16-1546 Living Coral as the 2019 Color of the Year. The Color of the Year is chosen based on a variety of industries such as fashion, art, social media, and pop culture. This year’s color was inspired by the ocean’s coral reefs and is “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.” With a nod to our ever-changing environment, Living Coral is a warm and optimistic color loved by many. So, it’s no surprise we’ve begun to see it more and more in this year’s home design trends.

Ready to incorporate a pop of coral into your home? Here are three easy ways to do just that!

Start Small with Home Decor

If you’re not ready to go all in with this vibrant hue, that’s okay. Instead, test it out using decor pieces like accent pillows and throw blankets. They’re a great place to start when experimenting with bright shades like Living Coral. To get the most out of this trendy color, try combining different tones, textures, and shapes, which will add dimension to the room’s design.

Brighten Up Furniture

Changing up the room’s furniture is an easy way to make a statement with this shade. Liven up rooms with a neutral color palette with a pretty coral accent chair. Don’t feel obligated to swap out your existing furniture, though! Simply slide a slipcover over your current furniture. This is a low-commitment way to test it out in your home before making a larger investment.

Make a Splash with an Accent Wall

Living Coral is an eye-catching addition to any room, so if you’re feeling adventurous, use it as an accent wall color! Opting to paint just one wall with this bright shade is an easy way to take advantage of this trend without overwhelming other design elements. To really make it pop, try pairing it with lighter colors like a soft blue or a neutral gray. The finished result is a pretty, yet subtle design.
